Golem is one of the tankiest cards in the game and only targets buildings. When it dies it splits into two Golemites and damages everything around it, making it the backbone of beatdown decks.
Usually send Golem from behind your King Tower and add support like Night Witch, Baby Dragon or Lumberjack as it walks. Because Golem is so expensive, your opponent may punish the other lane right after you place it, so be ready to defend cheaply. Its real power shows in double elixir.
Tips
Don't drop Golem right at the start; see your opponent's deck first and wait for the right moment.
If your opponent has Inferno Tower, plan to reset it with Lightning or Zap.
Your support troops should clear the defense before Golem reaches the tower, so don't skimp on support.
Strengths
Its huge health makes it the perfect shield for big pushes.
Even after it dies, the Golemites keep the pressure on.
Weaknesses
Very expensive, leaving you open in the other lane.
Can be answered by tank killers like Inferno Tower and P.E.K.K.A.
